Among the main companies in this activity, we can name GIPA, which is a reference in the Tunisian food sector. Since its creation, its name is associated with frozen cream, cones, yogurts, juices and pastries.
GIPA’s first job, at its start, was the production of frozen cream.
Her first production unit was bought in 1978. During the following years, GIPA became the leader in the making of ice cream, sorbet, and frozen cream sold under the brand name SELJA. Today, the two known brand names are: «SELJA» and «OLA». Conceived to respond to the needs of the demanding consumers, SELJA and OLA work on original product concepts and innovative packaging. Successful in its original market, the company has been successful in expanding its activities to the pastry, yogurt, pasteurized milk, and juice markets.
The group also makes margarine and vegetable hydrogenated fats through its vegetable division of the company ALMES. This division produces essentially margarine for home use, margarine for professionals, and vegetable fat. This activity permits the group to hold more than half of the Tunisian market with its brand name JADIDA.
The production site is located in Rades, and represents the biggest production unit in Tunisia with a production capacity of 600 kg/hour of vegetable oil, 450 kg/hour of margarine for home use, and 250 kg/hour of industrial margarines.
The group is also present on the market of « Halwa Chamia » with the company SOKAPO, the brand name Sharerazed, acquired in 2007 and with a new mission to increase its presence in foreign markets.
In the service sector, the group owns many companies that operate in the international commerce, representation, imports, packaging and sales of chemical products and para chemical.
Poulina Group Holding is also a shareholder through a subsidiary called Med Invest Company dealing with the distribution company of Magasin General, which is the number one brand name in national distribution in terms of points of sale.
In addition, several companies are being built on the national territory and abroad such as MEDOIL that will specialize in refining and packaging of table olive oil and the treatment of corn and soy oil.
